Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
At SpendHack, we believe your financial data is deeply personal. This Privacy Policy outlines exactly what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is secured. We prioritize simplicity, transparency, and a commitment to never monetizing your data.
1. Information We Collect
When you use SpendHack, we collect the minimal amount of information necessary to provide a seamless personal finance tracking service:
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address, name, and securely process your authentication via Firebase. We do not store raw passwords.
- Financial Data: The expenses, categories, and budgets you explicitly enter into the application. This data is cryptographically isolated to your user account via strict backend security rules.
- Media: Images of receipts or bills that you optionally attach to your expenses.
- Usage Data: Anonymous analytics data (via Firebase Analytics) to help us understand how the app is used, diagnose errors, and improve overall performance.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the SpendHack core service:
- To authenticate your account securely and synchronize your data seamlessly across all your devices.
- To render your personal dashboards, generate spending insights, and calculate budget progress.
- To provide responsive customer support and troubleshoot technical issues you report.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal financial data with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or affiliated marketers under any circumstances.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-leading, enterprise-grade backend infrastructure:
- Database Integrity: Your transactional data (expenses, categories) is hosted on Google Cloud Firestore. Rigorous security rules ensure that only authenticated requests originating from your specific user session can access or modify your records.
- Authentication Security: We utilize Firebase Authentication, which implements modern security protocols for session management and credential verification.
- Media Storage: Receipt images are securely uploaded and hosted via Cloudinary. To optimize your bandwidth and our storage efficiency, images are compressed securely on your device before they are transmitted.
While we implement strict modern security practices, it is important to note that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% immune to vulnerabilities. We continuously monitor and upgrade our security posture, but we cannot guarantee absolute security against highly sophisticated attacks.
4. Your Data Rights
You retain full ownership and control over your data. You possess the right to:
- Access, edit, or delete any expense record, category, or personal setting directly within the SpendHack application interface at any time.
- Request a complete and permanent deletion of your account and all associated financial records by contacting our support team with the subject 'Account Deletion'.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
SpendHack is designed to be lightweight and respectful of your browser environment. We use browser local storage and essential cookies strictly to maintain your active login session and securely store your interface preferences (such as Dark/Light mode theme selections and regional currency formats). We do not deploy tracking cookies for third-party advertising.
6. Changes to This Policy
As our platform evolves, we may update our Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect new features or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the revised Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" timestamp. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
